Thursdays are date night! Wahoo! Brad and I went to Chile Verde, and then to church band practice. How romantic!
Band practice was great. We learned "This Man" by Jeremy Camp, which we'll do on Sunday. I'm very excited, because it sounds great. We changed up the instrumentation a bit, with
moosemcfiend on guitar (because he rocks harder than me) and
limpoboe42 on bass. So I'm just singing!
After band rehearsal, Brad and I hoofed it over to BooksAMillion, from whence I posted a picture of myself and the fabulous Johnny Depp! Okay, so it was a cardboard Johnny, but still fun! We had coffee, and I ran into an old friend who informed me that he's writing controversial things in the Ouachita Citizen, a local paper. I looked it up today, and he has been writing controversial things attacking president Cofer (of ULM fame) and his administration. This particular old friend often just needs something to gripe about, and many of his attacks appear to be unfounded. I guess I'll stay tuned, however, so I can no longer be accused of being "out of the loop". Apparently this old friend considers himself to be a local celebrity as a result of these articles and editorials, but the truth of this assumption remains to be seen.
Anyway, coffee with Brad was fabulous. We talked of politics and all sorts of stuff, and it was really great conversation. I like that boy. :)
After coffee, we headed to West Monroe to see Pirates of the Caribbean II! I may post a review later (behind a cut, of course... I don't want to spoil it for you!), but we'll see.
On the way home, we passed a ton of fire trucks and police cars, etc. Brad thought he saw a burned-down house, but I can't find anything about it in the local news. It was the most blinky lights I've ever seen in one place.
I got home around 3:20am, and woke up at 7:05am, thanks to
whatami. I was out of the house by 7:22am, which is fabulous, considering that I showered and everything. I made it to work with minutes to spare! And now I'm here being worthless. Oh, I'm sleepy, but I have no one to blame but myself.
I get paid today, and I'm incredibly excited, because my bank account weeps from all the birthdays that I've attended to of late. But that's okay... I'll soon be through with the birthday rush!
